All men desire knowledge. - Aristotle

These are difficult times in the construction industry.  For many in this business we call it a cycle and what goes down must again come back. Just as the sun rises and sets and spring follows winter. If there is a good time to regroup and reenergize your efforts it is during a period of slower economic activity.  The firms that understand this are in the best position to more quickly capitalize as the construction rebound occurs.  While it is difficult to predict the construction climate it is certain to rebound. It is time to stay focused on the mission at hand. Those firms that maintain a strong presence in the architectural community and invest in their relationships will be the first to be called upon.

For the architect members it remains a struggle to keep up with all that is changing in the world of new products and technology.  This is a daunting task when you consider all the product choices, code requirements, new technologies and owner preferences. Architects must continue to foster and maintain relationships in the industry to have reliable resources for information.  Construction personnel are also faced with the challenge of knowing about new products, applications and methods. Product representatives need to promote new products and services. The challenge remains to get to right people and have the opportunity to provide them information.  The key to all successful representatives is to be a trusted resource for key decision makers.

The great news is that although all three groups face different struggles to learn, educate themselves and build relationships, they can all benefit from participating in the CSI Cincinnati product showcase.  You will start receiving information about the show which is called Construct Cincinnati.  This will be the 30 year Anniversary of this product show. The trade show committee is working hard to make this year’s show another memorable event. For the architect you will not want to miss this opportunity to see what is new in construction products and services. There will also be seminars provided for additional education and \learning units from AIA.

This is a also a tremendous opportunity for product representatives to showcase new products or technology, meet new architect contacts and show your commitment to the industry.  You will be called on by the trade show committee to exhibit at the show. Please consider the value of a show that allows you to meet new contacts, promote products and position yourself for future success. It is easy to say that things are slow and perhaps you’ll sit this one out, but perhaps this is actually the best time to invest. The date is March 11, 2009 so mark down on your calendar and visit the Exhibitor Info page for registration information.

You are all also encouraged to attend our monthly meetings to take advantage of the educational program and networking opportunities.  The November program promises to be a very unique experience as we find out Are You Smarter Than a Specifier?  Please join us as we learn about numerous technical aspects in all CSI Masteformat divisions.  Meeting attendees will go head to head with architects and specifiers.  This is sure to be a evening filled with fun, memorable highlights, and of course education.  Please RSVP and join us November 12 at 5:30 at the Vernon Manor. If you are not a member your first meeting is on us. Hope to see you there.
